Floods in Turkey

At least ten people lost their lives and several others are missing after floods caused by rainfall hit southeast Turkey yesterday.

According to Turkey’s search and rescue organization, AFAD, 5.4 inches of rain had fallen in one area of the country’s Adiyaman province while 4.4 inches fell in Sanliurfa over a 24-hour period. Each province has seen one-third of its typical annual rainfall in the past two days. The floods come one month after two earthquakes struck southern Turkey and Syria, leaving more than 52K people dead between the two countries and over 200K buildings destroyed or damaged.

Turkey’s disaster management agency said that over a dozen professional divers were involved in the rescue efforts in each of the two provinces. Some of the flood victims reportedly include quake survivors who had been living in container homes since February’s earthquakes.

Abortion pill case

A U.S. District Judge in Texas heard arguments yesterday in a case over whether the sale of the abortion pill mifepristone should be halted across the country.

During the hearing, lawyers for the group Alliance Defending Freedom asked Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk to issue an immediate order that would revoke or suspend mifepristone’s FDA approval. The group's lawsuit alleges that the FDA’s approval of mifepristone was flawed and that the agency’s review of the pill’s safety risks was inadequate. On the opposite side, FDA lawyers argued that overturning mifepristone’s approval would result in it being pulled from the market and therefore harm the public interest.

The FDA approved mifepristone as a pregnancy termination method in 2000. Taken along with misoprostol, the combination is known as medication abortion or the “abortion pill.” According to preliminary data published in February 2022 by the Guttmacher Institute, medication abortion accounted for over half of all abortions in the U.S.

T-Mobile scoops up Mint

T-Mobile announced yesterday that it is acquiring Mint Mobile, the mobile carrier partially owned by Ryan Reynolds, in a deal valued at up to $1.35B.

The acquisition is part of a deal that T-Mobile reached to acquire Ka'ena Corporation, which owns the prepaid wireless brands Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile, as well as wireless wholesaler Plum. In a statement, T-Mobile wrote: “Following the deal’s close, Mint’s founders  David Glickman and Rizwan Kassim will remain onboard at T-Mobile to manage the brands, which will generally operate as a separate business unit. Owner Ryan Reynolds will continue on in his creative role on behalf of Mint.” T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert and Reynolds also appeared in a video message to note that T-Mobile will retain Mint’s pricing of $15 per month.

Mint has run on T-Mobile’s network since its inception. Recent data shows that, in terms of market share, T-Mobile is the third-largest mobile carrier in the U.S.

CBD superfood gummy, powered by bees

Hemp edibles have a dark secret: they're nearly all made with high-fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, and synthetic flavors. And no, adding 10mg of CBD to that isn't going to make it "healthy." That's why the Brothers decided to change the way things work in the hemp world. Meet the all-new Honey Drop!

Honey Drops are made with simple ingredients, including certified organic honey sourced from small, remote sustainable farms + fruit pectin. Using ultra-low temperatures, the honey is processed to remove moisture and retain all the beneficial plant metabolites, pollen, and goodness of natural honey. Next, they're super-powered with immune loving superfoods. Currently, they offer two delicious flavors, Orange Turmeric and Lemon Ginger, both made with organic ingredients.

The result is a chewy, delicious honey-based gummy with an estimated 25-30mg per gummy (15mg CBD, 7mg CBG, 7mg CBN). They're great on the go, before settling down for the night, or whenever you need a scrumptious treat that isn't laden with corn syrup.
