Fallout in Pakistan

Pakistan’s Supreme Court ordered former Prime Minister Imran Khan to be released after it declared his arrest earlier in the week to be unlawful.

Khan–who was a professional cricket player before turning to politics–was removed from office more than a year ago in a no-confidence vote in Pakistan’s Parliament. Since then, he has led several mass rallies calling for early elections. On Tuesday, he was detained in the country’s capital of Islamabad outside the High Court, where he was appearing on corruption charges that he and his supporters have claimed are politically motivated.

Since Khan has been held, at least 10 people have died in violent protests across the country and 2K have been arrested. The unrest comes as the nation of 220M people contends with inflation levels that have left many unable to afford basic necessities such as food and fuel. Elections are due in the country later this year.

Title 42 expires

Title 42, the border policy enacted in March 2020 which allowed U.S. officials to turn away migrants who came to the U.S.-Mexico border on the grounds of preventing the spread of Covid-19, has now expired.

According to government officials, the U.S. will now use its authority under Title 8 to impose penalties on migrants who cross the border unlawfully. Such penalties include a minimum five-year ban on reentry and potential criminal prosecution. However, Title 8 stipulates that individuals can no longer be turned away or deported without receiving a screening for asylum claims, which means they will enter the U.S. and be placed in detention centers as they go through a process called expedited removal.

Under Title 42, U.S. officials turned away migrants more than 2.8M times. In the days before its expiration, U.S. Border Patrol reported that it had seen the highest-ever daily totals of migrant apprehensions, with over 10K each day this week since Monday.

WHO ends Mpox emergency

The World Health Organization (WHO) yesterday declared at a press briefing that Monkeypox is no longer a global health emergency.

According to WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, almost 90% fewer cases were recorded over the last three months compared with the previous three-month period, which means the agency’s highest level of alert is no longer required. There have been more than 87K reported cases of Mpox since January 2022 and 140 deaths across 111 countries, per WHO data. The U.S. declared its own public health emergency for Monkeypox in August 2022 before lifting it in December.

The Monkeypox virus–also known as “Mpox”–is a member of the same family of viruses as smallpox, though it is much less severe. The outbreak was declared a global emergency last July after it had spread to more than 70 countries. Yesterday’s announcement comes six days after the WHO declared that the Covid-19 global health emergency was over.

Eat Liquid Gold

Inside this delicious “liquid gold” treat is a healing root compound with anti-inflammatory effects so strong that it rivals some of the best man-made remedies out there…

It’s called “curcumin”...

It’s extracted from turmeric root and studies show it works in the same way that other anti-inflammatory drugs do, but without the side effects.

It reduces inflammation within your body.

It blocks pain receptors and reduces the sensitivity of your nerve endings.

And it floods your body with antioxidants, which protect your joints and muscles from oxidative damage that can lead to inflammation and pain.

Several studies prove the effectiveness, but only ‘liposomal technology’ helps curcumin absorb 800% more efficiently than standard supplements.
