Georgia indicts ‘Cop City’ protesters

61 people have been indicted in Georgia on racketeering charges following a state investigation into protests against a proposed police and firefighter training facility in Atlanta.

Prosecutors in Fulton County released the indictment yesterday against the protesters, who attempted to stop the construction of the facility, dubbed “Cop City” by its critics. The indictment accuses those mentioned in a newly unsealed filing from the Fulton County Court of arson, attacks on law enforcement officers, and destruction of government property. All 61 defendants have been charged under Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. The majority of those indicted were already facing charges stemming from their alleged involvement in the “Stop Cop City” movement.

Prosecutors trace the roots of the “Stop Cop City” movement back to May 2020 following the killing of George Floyd. Opponents of the training facility claim the center will lead to police militarization of the police and environmental damage in the area.

Cuba uncovers human trafficking ring

Cuban authorities announced they have uncovered a human trafficking ring operated from Russia that recruits Cuban citizens to fight alongside its military forces in Ukraine.

In a press release, Cuba’s foreign ministry said it “has detected and is working to neutralize and dismantle a human trafficking network that operates from Russia in order to incorporate Cuban citizens living there and even some living in Cuba, into the military forces that participate in military operations in Ukraine.” The announcement comes days after local media in Miami reported on Cubans being taken to Russia to fight. Cuba announced it has already begun prosecuting cases in which its citizens had been coerced into fighting in Ukraine.

Cuba has been an ally of Russia since the Cuban Revolution, which saw Fidel Castro come to power in 1959. Russia announced last year a plan to boost the size of its armed forces by more than 30 percent to 1.5M combat personnel.

Workers damage the Great Wall of China

A part of China's Great Wall has been severely damaged by construction workers in central Shanxi province, who used an excavator to dig through it.

Police in Yuyou County detained two suspects after receiving reports about the damage on August 24, alleging the suspects were trying to create a shortcut for their construction work by widening an existing cavity in the wall to allow their excavator through. The case is currently under further investigation. According to a statement from authorities, their excavation caused “irreversible” damage to the integrity and safety of that portion of the wall. The damaged section of the Great Wall belongs to the 32nd Great Wall established in the Ming Dynasty.

The Great Wall has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. It was built starting in 220 B.C., when China had its first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, and it was rebuilt at various periods, according to UNESCO.

Let food be thy medicine

Throughout history, civilizations such as ancient Egypt, China, India, the Mayan and Aztec empires, have all recognized the power of food as medicine.

Our relationship with food is sacred and intimate, from planting seeds to consuming plants' energy. Food has the ability to change our mood, bring people together, and heal.

The famous quote, "Let food be thy medicine, and medicine thy food," spoken by Hippocrates, emphasizes the importance of combining the right foods with medicinal herbs for a healthy life.

However, we have forgotten this truth and turned to mass-produced, artificial, and nutrient-depleted foods. As a result, people are becoming sick. To achieve good health, we must consume nutrient-dense, mineral-rich, consciously-created food.

It's time to remember and embrace this ancient wisdom. A new docuseries called Healing Kitchen: Let Food Be Thy Medicine explores the power of medicinal foods in preventing and healing disease.

This transformative series offers powerful recipes and ancient remedies to create a kitchen that promotes natural wellness and nourishment. Watch the trailer HERE!
