Top TipsArgentina wins the World CupArgentina won the 2022 World Cup championship after defeating France in penalty kicks in the final match. In the final 10 minutes of regulation playing, Argentian captain Lionel Messi scored two goals. French forward Kylian Mbappe then scored back-to-back goals in one minute and 33 seconds to even the score, and the game went into penalty kicks after both teams each scored another goal to tie the match at 3-3. While France’s Mbappe became the first male player since 1966 to score three goals in a World Cup final, Argentina came ahead 4-2 in penalty kicks to clinch the match. Yesterday’s win marks the 35-year-old Messi’s first World Cup title and Argentina’s third, winning in 1978 and 1986. The only other country with more titles is Brazil, which has won the tournament five times. According to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, approximately 5B people are estimated to have watched this year’s tournament held in Qatar. |

Dresden art heistGerman police and prosecutors said that 31 pieces stolen from an art collection in Dresden’s Green Vault museum in 2019 have been recovered and returned. According to police reports, several masked figures broke into the gallery in Dresden Castle on November 25th, 2019, smashing a glass display case and retrieving the jewels with fishing twine. They then escaped in a getaway car which authorities found on fire in an underground car park. German police believe the operation took less than 10 minutes. The recovered pieces stolen from the museum include a breast star of the Polish Order of the White Eagle and a diamond head-dress, though some items remain missing. Authorities reportedly found the items after talks with the lawyers of six men who are currently on trial for the theft. With their return, specialists are now set to examine the items in order to confirm their authenticity. |

Social media links on TwitterTwitter will no longer allow its users to link to other social media platforms without paying to do so, according to a policy the company published yesterday. The company wrote in a series of tweets that it “will no longer allow free promotion of certain social media platforms on Twitter,” citing Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Nostr, and Post as the platforms in question. In addition to removing accounts created for the purpose of promoting other social media sites, Twitter said it will also remove content containing links or usernames for the prohibited platforms, though added it will “still allow cross-posting content from any social media platform.” While Twitter holds that it will temporarily suspend accounts and remove tweets for violating the new policy, the company said it will allow users to link to any of the prohibited platforms that it listed as long as it’s done through paid advertisement or promotion. |
